 EFCC Arraigns Austrian For Undeclared $800,585, €651,505 At Lagos Airport The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, Okotie Eboh, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, January 9, 2026, arraigned one  Kavlak Onal, an Austrian national arrested by the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, for allegedly failing to declare the sums of $800,575 and €651,505 in his possession. He was arraigned before Justice Yelim Bogoro of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi , Lagos.  Onal who was scheduled to travel on Emirates Airline to Dubai, was on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 intercepted  during a routine check at the AML/ CFT Currency Declaration Desk at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

Four Students Celebrating WASSCE At Lagos Beach Drown, One Body Recovered

Four teenagers have drowned while swimming at Elegushi Beach, in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

Channels Television gathered that the unidentified victims were swimming in the water before tragedy struck on Tuesday.

The 10 children, aged between 14 and 15, were at the beach to celebrate the completion of their West African Senior School Examination. They were said to be pupils of the Kuramo Senior College, Lekki.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident to Channels Television.

In a telephone conversation on Wednesday, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the corpse of one of the students has been recovered.

He also stated that efforts were ongoing to recover the bodies of the three other students with the assistance of local divers.
