SOLUDO EULOGISES WIFE, DESCRIBES HER AS GOD'S GIFT TO HIM
By Christian ABURIME
Last Sunday, Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, took out time to celebrate his wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo on her birthday
A private mass heralded the day which will best be described as a normal but special day.
Friends and well wishers had prepared a mini-surprise birthday bash for the Governor's wife. The Deputy Governor's wife, Lady Oluchi Ibezim, Mrs Obiageli Okwubanego, Mrs Edna Obiakor, Commissioner for Women and Social Development, Mrs Ify Obinabo, her Education and Budget and Economic Planning counterparts, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Ms Chiamaka Nnake and a host of others, were not missing in action.
One striking thing about the day was when Governor Soludo took to the stage and described his wife as God's gift to him. The Governor went on to recall how his wife has been very supportive during his days as the Central Bank Governor, his eventual sojourn in the world of politics; how she took care of the home-front and other wonderful things she did as wife and mother, while he was on national duties.
The Governor heaped praises on his wife for the great sacrifices she had made on several occasions, to keep him going, including living in many countries as a consultant
Based on the foregoing, the Governor emphasised that every year of his wife's birthday offers him the opportunity to celebrate her as a unique personality, a caring wife and an excellent mother
Governor Soludo, in another vein, also reminded guests that he applied for this job to which Ndi Anambra elected him.
"We are not in a total celebrating mood in Anambra state, until we fix the roads and many projects staring at us, only then shall we have reason to celebrate fully". Governor Soludo emphasized
"However, let us always celebrate our women, because a society that doesn't celebrate them is one that is clapping with one hand". He further said
After the mass, the Governor, his wife, Deputy Governor's wife, Mrs Oluchi Ibezim, Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Chinedu Nwoye and others, proceeded to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku-Awka and thereafter, Model Community Children's Home where Mrs Soludo offered succour by way of donation of food stuff to patients and motherless children, who in turn, prayed for the first lady and her family.
