 More Nigerians expected to fall into poverty by 2027 – World Bank Despite Nigeria’s resources-rich status, more of the county’s citizens are expected to sink into poverty by 2027, the World Bank Group has said. This is contained in the World Bank’s Africa Pulse report released at the ongoing Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington DC, the United States. The report noted that sub-Saharan Africa has the highest extreme poverty rate globally, with a large share of the poor concentrated in a few countries. According to the Bretton Woods institution, about 80 percent of the world’s estimated 695 million extreme poor resided in the region in 2024, compared to 8 percent in South Asia, 2 percent in East Asia and the Pacific, 5 percent in the Middle East and North Africa, and 3 percent in Latin America and the Caribbean. “Within Sub-Saharan Africa, half of the 560 million extreme poor in 2024 resided in four countries,” the report highlight...

PROTECTION OF CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES :COMMANDANT EWEKA RECEIVES THE CONTROLLER OF NIGERIA CORRECTIONAL SERVICE LAGOS STATE COMMAND.


The Lagos State Commandant pledges continuous synergy and support for the Nigeria Correctional Service in the State.

The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Edenabu Okoro, msc, acma, cna, today, Tuesday, 2nd August, 2022, received the Controller, Nigeria Correctional Service ( NCoS ), Lagos State Command, Controller Ben-Rabbi Freedman, at the Command's Headquarters, situated at Alausa, Ikeja, in the State.

The Controller of Corrections, Controller Ben-Rabbi Freedman, was also warmly welcomed by the Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Edenabu Okoro and the Management Staff of the command.

The Controller, during the courtesy visit, highlighted the mission of his visit which were; to strengthen existing enjoyable security services, continuous synergy and robust support, request for deployment of additional NSCDC armed personnel to compliment the existing ones at the correctional facilities in the State.

In response, the Commandant, ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Okoro, stated that the Command will continue to sustain the already established cordial relationship between both services in the State. The Commandant also seized the visit, to panegyrize the immense contributions of the ( NCoS ), towards the eradication of crimes and criminality in the State.

Finally, following the glaring security challenges in the nation, 
Commandant Eweka Edenabu Okoro, has pledged his unalloyed continuous synergy and support, towards the protection of correctional facilities and other Critical National Assets and Infrastructure ( CNAI ), mainly the Federal Government property, the State Government property and the Local Government property, in the State, as mandated by the Act establishing the Corps in 2003 and 2007 as amended .
