 Kwara Govt donates 150 off-road motorcycles to Nigerian Army •LGAs acquire 320 motorcycles to boost vigilantes' security operations  In a bid to further strengthen security operations and maintain peace across Kwara State, His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led Kwara State Government has donated 150 off-road motorcycles to the Nigerian Army. The motorcycles are expected to enhance troops' mobility and effectiveness, particularly in rugged terrains such as forests, where non-state actors may be hiding with intent to destabilise the peaceful atmosphere of the state. 2023: Kaduna Police Warns Politicians Against Violating Electoral Act

The Kaduna State Police Command has warned all political parties and their candidates to strictly abide by the Electoral Act towards ensuring peaceful 2023 general elections.

The Command also warned parents and guardians not to allow their wards to be used as thugs and trouble makers before, during and after the elections.

Addressing Executive members of the Kaduna State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) who paid a courtesy call to the Command, the State Commissioner of Police (CP), Yekini Adio Ayoku said there would be water tight security at the polls so that the election would be smooth without hitches in all parts of the State and the country.

Ayoku expressed satisfaction with journalists in the State, saying that he had not had any bad media report against his Command since he assumed office.

He assumed duty in April as the 40th Police commissioner of Kaduna State.

He said, “We are promising top notch security within the State during the 2023 general election. We shall provide tight security so that the election will go smoothly.”

The Commissioner of Police appealed to journalists to deny terrorists propaganda through the way they cast their headlines, pointing out that journalists occupied strategic position to safeguard the entire country.

Ayoku explained that the Command had made a lot of arrests and recovered arms and ammunition from criminal elements since he assumed office in the State.

He assured that the Command was doing everything possible to return Kaduna state to the pride of the nation.

Hajiya Asma’u Halilu, the NUJ Chairman, told the Police Commissioner that there was the need to improve on collaboration between the Union and the Police Command by availing information promptly to journalists.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
