 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

2023: Kaduna Police Warns Politicians Against Violating Electoral Act

The Kaduna State Police Command has warned all political parties and their candidates to strictly abide by the Electoral Act towards ensuring peaceful 2023 general elections.

The Command also warned parents and guardians not to allow their wards to be used as thugs and trouble makers before, during and after the elections.

Addressing Executive members of the Kaduna State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) who paid a courtesy call to the Command, the State Commissioner of Police (CP), Yekini Adio Ayoku said there would be water tight security at the polls so that the election would be smooth without hitches in all parts of the State and the country.

Ayoku expressed satisfaction with journalists in the State, saying that he had not had any bad media report against his Command since he assumed office.

He assumed duty in April as the 40th Police commissioner of Kaduna State.

He said, “We are promising top notch security within the State during the 2023 general election. We shall provide tight security so that the election will go smoothly.”

The Commissioner of Police appealed to journalists to deny terrorists propaganda through the way they cast their headlines, pointing out that journalists occupied strategic position to safeguard the entire country.

Ayoku explained that the Command had made a lot of arrests and recovered arms and ammunition from criminal elements since he assumed office in the State.

He assured that the Command was doing everything possible to return Kaduna state to the pride of the nation.

Hajiya Asma’u Halilu, the NUJ Chairman, told the Police Commissioner that there was the need to improve on collaboration between the Union and the Police Command by availing information promptly to journalists.
