AMID CHALLENGES AS A NATION, WE STILL HAVE HOPE IN GOD - GOV. UZODIMMA

The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma on Sunday drove words of Hope to the hearts of Ndi Imo in a Thanksgiving Mass at Maria Assumpta Cathedral Owerri conducted by Archbishop Ugorji, marking Nigeria’s 62nd Independence Day Anniversary.

Governor Uzodimma in his address agreed that Nigeria has survived enormous challenges but there is still hope in God Almighty for his grace in sustaining the peace and unity this Nation, despite various challenges and shortcomings.

He further stated that in Thanksgiving to God, Imo has miraculously surmounted the challenges of the enemy.

The Governor reassured Ndi Imo of his passion and zeal in service to God and to the collective needs of the State, noting that what defines a nation and a State is the collective interest and not personal gains.

According to the Governor, "When I came as a Governor I saw poverty, broken down infrastructure and in fact,  things fell apart and the centre could not hold. The good news is that to solve the problem the 3-R Government has developed an ECONOMIC GROWTH PLAN as the password to remove poverty, unemployment and to restore security."

He further urged all communities in the State to co-operate with the security operatives and shun needless violence, kidnappings and embrace the plans of the Government for the good of the State.

The Mass was attended by Wife of the Governor, Barr. Chioma Uzodimma; top government functionaries like the Deputy Governor, Prof Placid Njoku; Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emeka Nduka (leading his principal officers and other members); and a host of top government officials and dignitaries.
