  President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence. The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja. President Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the carnival reaffirms the essence of who Nigerians are—”a people of culture, a people of art, a people of colour, and a people of shared values”. LASG DEBUNKS ALLEGATION ON SALE OF CAMPAIGN STICKERS


The Lagos State Government has debunked the claims contained in a viral video on social media alleging its participation in forcing the motoring public to purchase stickers to raise funds for the campaign of some All Progressive Congress candidates.

A statement issued by the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde condemned the claim in strong terms, stating that the sticker was neither created nor circulated by the Ministry or any agency of the government.

He urged stakeholders, especially those providing public transportation, to report anyone caught selling the stickers in the name of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, advising those involved in the mischief to refrain or face the wrath of the Law.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
