 NAFDAC Reopens Onitsha Drug Market After Month-Long Closure The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has reopened the Onitsha Head Bridge drug market, popularly known as 'Ogbo Ogwu', after a month-long closure for sanitization and regulatory enforcement. The market was shut down as part of NAFDAC's nationwide clampdown on fake and substandard medicines. To prevent a recurrence of the issues that led to the closure, NAFDAC has implemented strict administrative conditions for reopening. Shop owners are required to complete documentation and clearance procedures before their shops can be unsealed. A dedicated NAFDAC desk has been established to facilitate the process efficiently, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.² According to NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, only shops that meet the conditions will be allowed to resume operations.  LOKOJA MONARCH DIES AT 80, KOGI GOVERNOR, OTHERS MOURN YABAGI DANLADI



The traditional ruler of Lokoja, Alhaji Kabir Maikarfi III (OON) has died at 80 years of age after a brief illness.

Secretary to Lokoja Local Government Traditional Council, Muhammed Usman stated this in a press statement.

The statement noted that the royal father would be buried later on Thursday in Lokoja at 16hrs (4:00pm) local time.
 
Meanwhile, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has joined others to condole the family of decease over the loss and prayed Almighty Allah to grant the Royal Father eternal rest. .

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed.

The Governor described the late monarch as a principled, firm, incompatible and loving father whose words of advice, guidance and unique leadership would be missed.

He also prayed for fortitude for those left behind for their loss and enjoined them to take solace in the fact that he lived a life worthy of emulation.

In their condolence messages, the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, the minister of state for FCT, Hajiya Ramatu Tijani and other dignitaries also expressed sadness over the death and described the monarch in glowing tribute.

Benue info-pedia, recalls that the traditional ruler ascended the throne as the traditional ruler of the ancient town in 1992 and recently celebrated 30th anniversary as monarch in March this year.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
