 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Masquerades Storm Church, Flog Pastor, Worshippers In Plateau State. 

 

Today morning, 18 September, 2022, we gathered that a squad of masquerades stormed a church during service, flogged worshippers including the presiding Pastor; wherefore interrupting their Sunday service.

The incident occurred at an Assemblies of God Church (Garkawa Section) in Shikal Community of Langtang south Local Government Area of Plateau State.

This is not the first time such incident has occurred in the community; one Grace of God Mission (church) was also allegedly attacked in this manner. 

A source told kwara updates that, a festival was organised in Shikal Community to celebrate their masquerades, the event was suppose to be rounded up yesterday but it later extend till this morning. 

Notification Letter was sent to the pastor of Assemblies of God Church Shikal, (content of letter not disclosed), but the clergyman didn't agree to it stating that 'Light has nothing to do with darkness' - and also because he was using sound system during his service today" - the source added. 

The church's amplifier, Bass guitar, and many plastic chairs were damaged after the interruption, some of the Church's properties were also affected.

It was alleged that, such cases had been reported to the Langtang Police Division HQ on several occasions but no positive outcome was recorded.
