 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. The State Funeral for Her Majesty The Queen took place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September at 11am. 

The Funeral Service and the associated ceremonial arrangements paid tribute to The Queen’s extraordinary reign, and Her Majesty’s remarkable life of service as Head of State, Nation and Commonwealth.

As Big Ben tolled, Her Majesty The Queen’s coffin made its final journey through London.

His Majesty The King, and The Royal Family, followed Her Majesty’s coffin to Wellington Arch where it was lifted into State Hearse by the Grenadier Guards to travel to Windsor for the Committal Service at St George’s Chapel.

From Westminster Abbey, along Horse Guards, down the Mall to Wellington Arch, the Procession, led by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, included detachments from the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces who held a special relationship with The Queen.

Representatives of the George Cross foundations from Malta, the former Royal Constabulary, and four representatives of the NHS, which was awarded the George Cross last year following the pandemic, also join the Procession.


Thus it hath pleased Almighty God to take out of this transitory life unto His Divine Mercy the late Most High, Most Mighty, and Most Excellent Monarch, Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, and Sovereign of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.
