 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Nwanma Chinyere Ogidi, organiser of the of FinTechTour lecture on Monday said all is set for the 2022 edition.
According to Nwanma, who disclosed this in an interview with Journalists in Lagos said the lecture would hold Sept. 22, 2022. She said, the whole essence of the lecture was to bridge the gap between the finance, technology and tourism industries.
 Nwanma Ogidi, who is the publisher of Waka About Africa, said the lecture which will be the first of its kind in the country, will bring together policy makers, media groups, professionals and stakeholders in the ICT, finance, aviation, tourism and culture sectors would interact under one roof to share experiences and unlock opportunities.
She said this was quite important to ensure that there was a seamless running of the industries in Nigeria and to ensure the industries operate at the optimal level.
According to her, the hidden relationships between the industries and opportunities would be revealed for individual Nigerians to latch on for improvement in their investments in those industries.
" The theme for the expo is "FinTechTour: Unlocking Opportunities For Nigerian Businesses", to hold at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industries (LCCI) Conference Centre, Ikeja, Lagos.
 ”The lecture will bring policy makers, professionals and stakeholders in the ICT, Finance, Aviation, Tourism and Culture sectors under one roof to interact, share experiences and unlock opportunities.
“The objective of the lecture is to forge a warm relationship among Finance, Technology and Tourism professionals and stakeholders to make them to realize and appreciate the interrelatedness of these sectors and their importance in the Nigerian economy.
 “Prof. Umar Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will be the Keynote Speaker at the lecture, while Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji, Economist, Strategist is the Guest Lecturer. Prof. Samuel Olabanji Aje, Vice-Chancellor, Achievers University will chair the lecture”. 
Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture will be the special guest of honour. Other top dignitaries expected at the occasion include: Hadi Abubakar Sirika, Minister of Aviation; Dr. Isa Ali Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy.
There will be panel of discussants at the event including goodwill messages.
