 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. DIRECTOR ARMY PUBLIC RELATIONS DECORATES NEWLY PROMOTED OFFICERS OF THE DIRECTORATE



The Director Army Public Relations Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu has decorated three senior officers of the Directorate who were privileged to be among the beneficiaries of Major to Lieutenant Colonel promotion approved by the Army Council for the year 2022.

Giving his remarks during the ceremony,the Director congratulated the senior officers for a well deserved elevation, adding that the promotion was a confirmation of their loyalty, dedication and commitment towards supporting the NA in achieving its constitutional mandate.

Brigadier General Nwachukwu enjoined the promoted officers to redouble their efforts as promotion comes with additional responsibility. He further urged them to ensure that the benefits that come with their new ranks are utilized  to improve their families' welfare.

Expressing appreciation, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni on behalf of the newly promoted officers thanked the Army Council and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Faruk Yahaya for finding them worthy to be promoted. He also expressed his gratitude to the Director Army Public Relations for his guidance which propelled them to attain the enviable feat in their chosen career.

Officers decorated include, Lieutenant Colonels Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, Shuaibu Umar, and Ibrahim Shittu. The event was attended by senior officers, families of the beneficiary, invited guests among others.
