 Nigeria's Defence Minister Summons Service Chiefs Amid Surge in Attacks on Military Bases Nigeria's Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), has urgently summoned the nation's top military leaders to a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja. The session addresses the escalating attacks targeting military installations, particularly in the North East region. The meeting includes key figures such as: - Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede - Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu - Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke - Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abass - Representatives from the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) The summons comes in response to recent deadly assaults by terrorists on military bases in the North East. Conferment of National Honours, Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), on the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba,  psc(+), NPM, fdc, and retired IGPs - Dr Solomon E. Arase, NPM, fdc, and Mohammed A. Adamu, NPM, mni, and Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), on Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Sanusi Lemu, mni, by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, today October 11, 2022, at the International Conference Center, Abuja.

In the same vein, late CSP Ibrahim O. Mohammed, CSP Benedict Okoh Ajide, Sgt Adesina Isaiah and Sgt Umar Saidu were bestowed posthumously with the National Honours of the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON)  and Federal Republic Medal (FRM) respectively.
