A woman's body was recovered near a drain in Gordon today. NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Gideon Ikumu said we (police) are very concerned because this is the second such killing involving women in a matter of days.

He said police are also investigating the recovery of a woman's body at 9 mile cemetary last week. The Metsup appealed to residents in the city with information on these two murders and other crimes in the city, to come forward and assist police in their investigations.

He said informants can call into the Boroko Police Station in person, or contact the Police Operations centre on telephone 3098000 to report crime.

The  Metsup also urged city residents especially young girls and women to be more considerate about their own security and safety when hanging out with people on social outings.

Meanwhile, a man connected to a crime gang was arrested by NCD Police today after a botched robbery at  Erima today.

A gang reportedly entered a shop at the Erimat shopping centre and were about to stage their crime  when the shop owner switched on the security alarm causing them to  panic and flee.

They escaped in a white 5th element double cab utility but police were alerted and they chased the gang and arrested a suspect.

Mr Ikumu said police investigators will question the suspect and he will lead them to the rest of the gang members.
