OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. 1. SUSPECT INVOLVED IN ROBBING MALAYSIAN MAN CAUGHT.

2. STOLEN CAR RECOVERED.

One of three armed suspects who robbed a motorist along the 8 mile back road was caught by police yesterday afternoon.

A mobile phone and laptop were stolen from the Malaysian man and this crime incident was broadcasted on the police communication network.

Members of Sierra Quebec 10 responded immediately by driving into the Duran Farm housing project site.

They waited and the suspects ran straight into the police dragnet.

Two managed to escape but the one seen here, in police custody was caught. 

The victim who sustained a bruise in this ensuing attack was slightly shaken but thankful for the police response and arrest.

In a seperate incident, a white  sedan belonging to a couple was stolen at Tokarara but recovered at Kou Kou yesterday.

The female victim was dropping her kids at school when she was held up by 4 armed  men.

Police acting on a tip-off found the abandoned car at Koukou and gave it back to the owner after completing the necessary police formalities.
