 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. IMO STATE GOVERNMENT AVERTS FLOODING IN THE STATE, DESILTS DRAINAGES IN OWERRI METROPOLIS AND ENVIRONS



The Hope Uzodimma led administration  has embarked on a mission to save Ndi Imo from the any kind of flood disaster in the State. 

The goal of the State Government’s aggressive cleaning and desilting of the drainages in and around the state capital Owerri, is to prevent the State from been lost to flooding as predicted by the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet), to happen in the North Central and in South East State.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties Nze Chinasa Nwaneri who also doubles as the Chairman Task force desilting committee, is leading the task force team in collaboration with the ministry of Environment and the the Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO), who are not only desilting but removing illegal structures that blocked waterways. 

Findings by the committee showed that some houses channel their waste pipes to the public water ways while others turned their water ways and drainage to dustbins.

Nze Chinasa Nwaneri has enjoined all Imolites to clean up their surroundings most especially their gutters to avert the looming flooding disasters while recovering the State to her lost glory as the cleanest State in Nigeria.
