 DRC: Kabila arrives in rebel-held Goma after return from exile Former Congolese President Joseph Kabila, accused by the government of supporting rebels in the country's east, returned to Congo from self-imposed exile on Friday, arriving in rebel-held Goma city, two of the ex-president's associates and a rebel official said, AP reported. Kabila, who left Congo in 2023, came to Goma “to participate in peace efforts” in the conflict-hit east where Rwanda-backed M23 rebels have seized large swaths of territory, including the strategic eastern city, said a close aide of the former president. Another associate of Kabila's and a senior M23 official also confirmed the former president's return. The three spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media on the topic. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ESCAPEE OF KUJE CORRECTIONAL CENTRE


     … As Escapee is Handed over to Nigeria Correctional Service Kano State Command, CP appreciates the Good People of Kano State for their Cooperation

In line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, psc(+), NPM, fdc on Community-based Policing and Intelligence-led Policing, Kano State Police Command under the leadership of CP Abubakar Lawal, fdc rejigs its intelligence gathering strategy and Community Policing engagements.

2. On 23/09/2022 at about 1800hrs, based on credible information and sustained intelligence gathering, a team of Operation Restore Peace attached to the command’s Criminal Investigation Department arrested one Abubakar Mohammed Sadiq, ‘m’, 25 years old of Badarawa Quarters, Kaduna North LGA, Kaduna State, a suspected Kuje Correctional Centre escapee. The suspect was arrested at Rangaza Quarters, Ungogo LGA, Kano State. The Commissioner of Police directed that the suspected escapee be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service, Kano State Command.

3. The Commissioner of Police appreciates the good people of Kano State for their continuous support, encouragement and cooperation. He urged residents to continue to pray for the State, and the Nation and report incidents to the nearest Police Station and not take laws into their hands. Raids of criminal hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the State as the Command will sustain the tempo in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere in Kano State.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
