 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. KATSINA POLICE REPELS TERRORIST ATTACK, RESCUES 15 KIDNAPPED VICTIMS.(PHOTOS).#PRESS RELEASE.


Katsina Police repels terrorist attack, rescues 15 kidnapped victims

Today being 28/10/2022 at about 0430hrs, a distress call was received that terrorists in their numbers, on motorbikes, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, attacked Buraji and Sabon Sara villages, kidnap fifteen (15) women and six (6) children and rustled twenty (20) cows.  On receipt of the information, Area Commander, Dutsinma, ACP Mohammad Makama, led a team of police tactical units, blocked their exits route at Gandun Sarki village, engaged them into fierce gun duel and successfully rescued all the twenty-one (21) kidnapped victims and recovered twenty (20) rustled cows. Many terrorists were killed and some escaped the scene with gunshots wounds.  Tactical teams are still combing the area with a view of recovering their dead bodies and/or arresting the injured terrorists.  Investigation is ongoing. 
ARREST OF A SUSPECTED INDIAN HEMP DEALER AND RECOVERY OF TWENTY-SEVEN (27) BAGS OF DRIED LEAVES SUSPECTED TO BE INDIAN HEMP: On 25/10/2022 at about 1730hrs, based on credible intelligence, the command succeeded in arresting one Ukashatu Idris ‘m’ aged 25 years old of Kiyaki village, Bungudu LGA of Zamfara state, a notorious drug dealer. Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he was ambushed and arrested by detectives attached to Makera Police divisional headquarters, Funtua LGA, in possession of twenty-seven (27) sacks filled with dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. In the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to be en route Zamfara state from Auchi, Edo state, with the said exhibits. He further mentioned one Kabiru Master ‘m’ of Lalan area in Gusau town, Zamfara state, now at large as his accomplice. Investigation is ongoing.
RECOVERY OF SUSPECTED STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLES:  On 11/10/2022, based on credible intelligence, the Command carried out sting operations in criminal hideouts and succeeded in tracing and recovering of four suspects stolen motor vehicles.  Investigation is ongoing.
ARREST OF A NOTORIOUS DRUG DEALER THAT SPECIALIZES IN SUPPLYING DRUGS TO TERRORISTS AND RECOVERY OF LARGE QUANTITY OF ILLICIT DRUGS:  On 22/10/2022 at about 1300hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in raiding a criminal hideout, at Danmarke village, Jibia, the house of one Aminu Abukasim, ‘M’, aged 28yrs, a notorious drug peddler that specializes in supplying illicit drugs to terrorists in the forest.  Nemesis caught up with the suspect, when he was arrested with thirty-one (31) packets of EXOL-5 tablets and thirty (30) packets of TRAMADOL tablets.  In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to the commission of the offence and mentioned three (3) other suspects to be his accomplices including his biological father who are now at large.  Investigation is ongoing.
