KOGI STUDENT WHO ACED JAMB RESULT, GETS EBIRA EDUCATION TRUST SCHOLARSHIP TO STUDY MEDICINE

Earlier in May 2022, ebirareporters reported the exploit of an academic prodigy from Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Isaac David Alaba who aced his JAMB results with 314 score, being the third in a row and in his undaunted quest to study Medicine.

In response to David’s “Save My Soul” broadcast message, the Board of Trustees, Ebira Education Trust Fund, has awarded a scholarship to an indigent student to read Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at the Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State.

The chairman, Board of Trustees of the Trust Fund, Professor Mohammed Salihu Audu, who presented the scholarship to the beneficiary on Thursday at the NUJ Press Centre in Lokoja, disclosed that the scholarship which is N400, 000 is to enable the awardee kick start his course of study.

Professor Audu, a former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, stated that the board of trustees through its selection committee headed by Professor Angela Okatahi, investigated the matter thoroughly which led to the offer of the award to Isaac Alaba David.

Speaking on the origin of the trust fund, Prof. Audu said Ebira Youth Congress (EYC) conceptualised and launched Ebira Education Trust Fund for Kogi Central youth as a potent avenue by which frontiers of knowledge could be further widened.

“The underlying rationale and beauty of the scheme is actually intended to speak to a bourgeoning crop of quality intellectuals of diverse disciplines to emerge from among our youths in the next few years courtesy of the Trust Fund.

“The core mandate of the Trust Fund does not qualify the youths to run it by themselves, which is why the BoT was carefully constituted by the same youths from across the five Local Government Councils of Kogi Central senatorial district at an enlarged EYC congress held at Okene,” he said.

While commending the financial contribution of well meaning Anebira toward the project Prof. Audu revealed that the Board has awarded scholarships to four deserving postgraduate students from Kogi state central senatorial district.

In his remark, Prof. Muhammed Suleiman Audu , the Deputy Vice Chancellor Federal University President General Ebira Youth Congress (EYC) Ateiza Obiyo Aliyu in his vote of thanks expressed appreciation to members of the Board of Trustees for rekindling hope in the mind of the youth.

Undaunted in the push to study Medicine, become a Medical Doctor and contribute to the medical profession in Nigeria, a student from Kogi State, Isaac Alaba David has demonstrated uncommon brilliance by acing three Joint Admission and Matriculation Board examinations for the third time in a row.

David from Okehi Local Government Area of the state has scored 314, being one of the best best results reported in the 2022 JAMB exams.

His story of acing JAMB started after he graduated from Community Model College in 2020 when he scored 263, and went ahead to write Post-UTME at Bayero University Kano with an aggregate score of 272. He was denied admission because of a merger of two sets in the school.

In 2021, he told ebirareporters that he took JAMB again and scored 246, and was admitted by Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, but ditched it because he was not given the course, Medicine, which he applied for.

“I made up my mind to give this year my best shot. All thanks to God and a social media group (CHAMPS) which ensured we studied 24/7 per day. Determination is what keeps me going,” he said.

The story is no different in his O’level result, with 3As and 5Bs in his West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
