LAGOS COMMAND ANTI - VANDAL UNIT AGAIN INTERCEPTS DRUG DEALERS, RECOVERS ONE HUNDRED AND ONE BAGS OF CANABIS SATIVA OF 5OKG EACH.
Commandant Eweka, gives credit of operational success to the synergy, between the Commandant General, NSCDC and the Chairman of NDLEA.
In line with the renewed and re - invigorated efforts of the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, Commandant of Corps (CC) Edenabu Okoro Eweka, msc, acma, cna, against all forms of economic sabotage and other kinds of criminality, in Lagos State, the Anti - Vandal Unit, of the Lagos State Command, ably led by its Head of Unit (HOU), Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) Musa Abdullahi Jibrin, who were always on constant routine surveillance and patrol, again, at the wee hours, of Thursday, 20th October, 2022, intercepted five drug dealers, on the high sea, close to Ibeshe waterways, around Badagry axis, loaded, with items suspected, to be Cannabis Sativa (Indian Hemp).
The gallant Anti - Vandal team of the Command, who intercepted the dealers of this hard drugs, noticed that five of them ( all male ), who sighted their uncompromising operational drive, immediately, jumped into the water for safety and escape. However, the well trained, gallant officers and men, did not engage in irrational release of fire, in a bid not to throw caution into the wind, but they remained focus and took possession of the Cannabis Sativa discovered, to be one hundred and one (101) bags of fifty kilograms (50kg) each also known as Indian Hemp, suspected to be conveyed, into the country from the Republic of Ghana.
"The recovered Indian Hemp, is estimated to be over sixty five million naira only, at market value," Commandant Edenabu Okoro Eweka said, while addressing some media men, at the State Headquarters of the Command, where the parade of 101 bags of the exhibits were displayed, today, Friday, 21st October, 2022, at about 11:00hrs.
The Commandant, while affirming the Command's unflinching commitment, towards eradicating all forms of economic sabotage, during the parade, today, at the Command's Headquarters, in company of the management staff, in a media briefing, organized, by the Command's Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Corps (DSC) Abolurin Oluwaseun, said, "he would like to seize this opportunity to plead with foreigners not to compensate the good neighborliness of Nigeria, by flooding the nation with such highly intoxicating and evil products, which influence crimes and criminality, majorly, amongst the youths of our society."
He stated further in his media address that the Command, on professional grounds, has immediately, notified, the rightful prosecuting agency, which is the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA ), of this operation and will hand over the exhibit to the Agency accordingly.
Finally, he also seized, the occasion of this excellent and gallant operation, to dedicate the recent operational successes, of the Command, to the supply of logistics, from the NSCDC, National Headquarters, as and when due, especially, the new gun boat and vehicles recently, deployed, to the Lagos State Command, by the erudite and amiable scholarly, headship of the Corps, Commandant General (CG), NSCDC, CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, OFR, with the clear intention to revamp and re - invigorate the Corps' operational and tactical capacity, strength, vigour, tenacity, dexterity and consistency, in the fight against oil smugglers, vandals and other forms of criminality such as drug dealing in Lagos and the entire federation.
