  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. NIGERIAN ARMED FORCES WILL REMAIN ONE INDIVISIBLE INSTITUTION - GEN CHINADE


 
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Aminu Chinade has affirmed that the Nigerian Armed will Forces remain one indivisible institution that will continue to collaborate, cooperate, strategies and synergise in the defence of the territorial integrity of the country.  

Major General Chinade gave the affirmation when the Commander 671 Nigerian Airforce Detachment, Ibadan, Air Commodore Babatunde Folaji, paid him a courtesy visit to further cement the already established relationship among the two Institutions.
The GOC while applauding the existing synergy and cooperation among the security agents in the Division Area of Responsibility, noted that everybody in the country looks up to the Armed Forces for security and peaceful environment, which therefore calls for more jointness, cross information and the discharge of assigned duties with utmost responsibility.

Major General Chinade pointed out that beyond the security challenges is the political activities that has kicked off in the county, which he said calls for neutrality in all ramifications on the side of members of the Armed Forces. While assuring the NAF commander of continued assistance, the GOC enjoined commanders at all levels to continuously educate their subordinates and wards on personal and environmental security.

Earlier, the Commander 671 Airforce Detachment, Air Commodore Babatunde Folaji said the detachment has and will continue to collaborate and synergise with other security agencies for a peaceful and security free environment in Oyo State.
Air Commodore Folaji expressed appreciation for the continued support and assistance enjoyed from the Division especially in the area of medical facilities. He wished the GOC a successful tour of duty.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
