 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. Peter Obi Reacts As LP Zonal Chairman Dies In Kaduna Auto Crash

Labour Party Chairman, Peter Obi, has mourned the passing of one of the party’s Zonal Chairmen in Kaduna State, Mallam Lawal Garba.

Garba lost his life in a fatal auto crash along the Kaduna-Zaria road on Monday.

He was on his way back from the party’s engagement with Northern stakeholders in Arewa House, Kaduna, on Monday.

Reacting, Peter Obi in a tweet on Tuesday expressed shock over his death and prayed that his soul rests in peace.

”I’m shocked by the news of the sudden and tragic death of Mallam Lawal Garba last night in a fatal vehicular accident. Mallam Garba was in attendance at the Arewa House interactive session.

”His death is a huge loss to his family, the Labour Party family in Kaduna State and the Kaduna people.

”I pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and that God Almighty will grant his family the fortitude to bear this huge loss.”
