 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. Awka cult shooting: One dead, 3 arrested

At least one person has been confirmed dead in the Awka cult shooting on Saturday morning.

Gunshots were earlier heard at Ziks Avenue in Awka, where rival cult groups were alleged to have clashed.

Further enquiry showed that a member of one of the cult groups, who was whisked away by a rival group was later found dead in a different location.

Also, three persons in connection to the cult clash were also said to have been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.

State command’s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga who confirmed this to our correspondent said the operation was still ongoing, at the time of filling this report.

Ikenga said: “One person was whisked away and later his lifeless body was found along Abba/Ifitedunu Road. Meanwhile, we have three suspects in custody, and operation is still ongoing.”
