 71-year-old landlord arrested for impregnating tenant’s teenage daughter The Ogun State Police Command said it had arrested a septuagenarian landlord, identified simply as Adesina, for allegedly defiling and impregnating his tenant’s 14-year-old girl (name withheld) at Akegbeyale Street in Ifesowapo Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of the state. PUNCH Metro learnt that the residents and other tenants were thrown into a state of shock when the septuagenarian suspect was found on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, having sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old girl at about 10:15 pm in the house bathroom. The minor, according to a police source who was part of the team that arrested the 71-year-old suspect but was not permitted to speak for the command, was said to have made her way to the apartment’s bathroom to take a shower. CP condemns attempted murder on Ruth Tamuno in Rivers

The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Okon O. Effiong has condemned  in its entirety, the mob action on one Ruth Tamuno on 14/11/2022, whereby some group of boys numbering about six, led by one Samuel Matthew beat her up and inserted substance on her private part, for allegedly stealing of an Iphone. CP Okon described the act as barbaric and inhumane. 

A statement by the spokesperson of the command, SP GRACE IRINGE-KOKO said  CP has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), to conduct a discreet investigation on one Samuel Matthew and Emmanuel Iweruma who were arrested in connection with the case, as efforts are on to arrest other fleeing suspects.

The statement reiterated that no matter the circumstances, resorting to self-help to carry out such act without recourse to extant laws and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, is totally condemnable and tantamount to violation of the law. 

The statement however said the CP urged citizens of the State to always be law-abiding and not to take laws into their hands, they should also assist the Police in the fight against criminals and their activities in the State.

Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours.
