 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. CP Mamman takes over leadership as 44th Commissioner of Police, Command Police Command

CP Mamman Dauda was born on 19th April 1963, at Illela LGA of Sokoto State. After completing mandatory Primary and Secondary School Education, he attended the prestigious Usman Danfodiyo University Sokoto where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mathematics. He also obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Statistics, a Master of Science (MSc) in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a Postgraduate Diploma in Nigerian Strategic Studies at the University of Maiduguri, a Diploma in Human Resources Management and a Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation.

2. He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (C/ASP) on 18th May 1992 and trained at the famous Police Academy Annex Kaduna. He has served in different State Commands, Zonal Commands and Formations.

3. He held several positions, some of which include;
i. Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) in several Divisions in Kaduna, Nassarawa, Gombe and Anambra States Police Commands. 
ii. Contingent Commander, Nigeria Formed Police Unit (FPU), Haiti
iii. Chief Superintendent of Police Admin (CSP ‘A’) & Staff Officer Senior (SOS) at Police College  Maiduguri
iv. Officer in Charge of Mechanized Salary Section (MSS) at Gombe State Police Command
v. Second in Charge (2I/C) Operations, Nassarawa State Police Command 
vi.  Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of IGP X-Squad Zamfara State Police Command.
vii. Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of IGP X-Squad Katsina State Police Command.
viii. Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Zamfara State Police Command.
ix. Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, Zone 4, Zonal Command Makurdi.
x. Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Zamfara State Police Command 
xi. Prior to his posting to Kano State Police Command, he was the Commissioner of Police, Director Central Planning and Training Unit (CPTU), Police Staff College Jos. 

4. He also attended many professional and leadership Courses, Seminars and Workshops both within and outside the Country, some of which include;
i. Strategic Leadership and Command Course
ii. Intermediate Command Course
iii. Train the Trainers Courses
iv. Advance Detective Course; at Police Staff College Jos.
He is happily married and blessed with children.
