 SANWO-OLU AT HARVARD: LAGOS IS INVESTORS' DELIGHT With a GDP of $259b, a 25 million population, four seaports, and friendly government policies, Lagos is an investor’s delight, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said.  “Lagos is a place where people come in without anything and become somebody. We are a business and commercial powerhouse,” he said on Wednesday.  It was another sales drive for the “State of Aquatic Splendour” at Harvard Business School where Mr. Sanwo-Olu spoke on “Building the Future: Lagos State Infrastructure-led Transformation”. He was a guest in Professor Hakeem Belo-Osagie’s course, “Understanding Africa: Business, Entrepreneurship, Political Economy and the Complexities of a Continent.” Belo-Osagie is a foremost Nigerian investment banker and businessman. Gunmen Attack Bullion Van in Anambra

Gunmen suspected to be robbers, on Thursday evening, attacked a bullion van in Ufuma, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra state. 

A source confirmed that the bullion van was conveying cash to an undisclosed location when the gunmen trailed them to the agrarian community of Ufuma, and opened fire on the truck and security men accompanying it.

“It happened at about 5pm today (Thursday), and there was heavy shooting in the area.

“All the residents of the community fled, while security operatives attached to the bullion van battled the armed robbers. The police was able to stop them from succeeding,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the State Police command has confirmed the incident.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga said the event happened at about 4pm, but the armed men were eventually repelled.

He said: “Operatives attached to the bullion van gallantly repelled the attack. The incident happened at about 4pm in Umunebo junction, Ufuma.

“The Commissioner of police CP Echeng Echeng has since ordered immediate manhunt on the attackers. The operational vehicles belonging to the armed robbers have been recovered.”

He said a Lexus jeep and a highlander jeep belonging to the robbers have been recovered. Other items recovered are: one empty magazine, defaced bullet proof vest, charms and some incriminating items.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
