 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. LASURA SET TO BUILD THIRTEEN-FLOOR CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS COMPLEX


The Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA) is set to build an ultramodern 13-floor office complex that is befitting an urban renewal institution.

The General Manager of the LASURA, Ms. Ajibike Shomade disclosed this during the working visit of the State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins to the Agency, recently.

She stated that there is an ongoing plan to redevelop the whole of the Agency's complex into an iconic twin-tower edifice of 13 floors which will serve as the Corporate Headquarters for LASURA.

Shomade explained that the construction of the iconic structure will ensure the efficient operations of the Agency, stressing that LASURA, would still run its affairs from its temporary office, pending the completion of the edifice. 

Her words: “The planned redevelopment of the LASURA Corporate Headquarters, which will occupy 20,000 square metres, will birth a twin-tower 13-floor edifice. The completion of the structure will accelerate our efforts to provide leadership in urban renewal and set the right direction for the future".

She stated further that LASURA has significantly transformed its operations since the inception of the administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu whose priority for the built environment and urban renewal is unparalleled and indicative of Mr. Governor’s resolve to achieve a 21st Century Economy in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S development agenda of the State Government.
