 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. SAFE SCHOOLS INITIATIVE - CP KOLO YUSUF VISITS FEDERAL UNIVERSITY GUSAU, FEDERAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION TECHNICAL AND POLICE SECONDARY SCHOOL GUSAU 


As CP Reassures More Security Measures To Safeguard Lives and Property of Students and Staff.

In line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba psc (+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR to provide adequate security for schools across the country, the Commissioner of Police Zamfara State Command CP Kolo Yusuf psc, in compliance with the directives today led Police Tactical Team to Federal University, Gusau, Federal College of Education Technical (FCET) and Police Secondary School Gusau for confidence building patrol. 

In the course of the visit, the Commissioner of Police met with the schools management, who took him round some of the strategic locations in their respective schools which were instantly assessed for security mapping, so as to safeguard lives and property in the schools

The Commissioner of Police during the security assessment also made some paramount observations and advised the schools Management appropriately. The CP further assured that the Command is fully committed to the security and safety of all the schools domiciled in the State, calling on the staff and students to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement to the Police or other security agencies for prompt response.

The Management of the trio institutions commended the Commissioner of Police for his timely concern to the security of their schools, and promised to be on the same page with the Police and other security agencies in ensuring the safety of their schools.
