Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. Anambra Governor's Wife, Mrs Soludo Promises Full Care For 13-Year-Old Girl Abused By Guardian.

Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo has promised to ensure that the 13 year old girl who was molested and impregnated by her 75 year old guardian receives full care and attains her life's dreams.

Mrs Soludo who stated this when she received the girl and her baby at the Governor's Lodge, Amawbia, explained that the girl would be given all the support she needs to raise her baby, attain standard education and become a useful asset to her family and Anambra State.

The girl is a Primary five pupil who lived with her 75 year old guardian in Awka.

It was during her stay that the septuagenarian, who is now in police net, began to sexually abuse her, which resulted to pregnancy.

Her story popped up on social media, attracting the attention of the governor's wife and the Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, both of whom collaborated for immediate action.

In her chat with the girl, Mrs Soludo flanked by the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, assured her that she would get all the support she needs to succeed, and also noted that she would always be in touch to ensure that her baby is well taken care of.

Mrs Soludo who appreciated the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, for being proactive on the case, re-emphasized that Anambra State is a red zone for abusers, as her husband's administration will not blink an eye in punishing offenders.

She also urged those who are going through any form of abuse to speak out, as the government is always ready to respond.

Mrs Soludo also provided cash and nursing reliefs for the upkeep of the girl and her baby.

The girl is already booked for school when the next academic session begins in January.
