 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. DON'T CAMPAIGN ON OUR PULPITS, NKST WARNS POLITICIANS



The Universal Reformed Christian Church popularly known as NKST in Benue State has warned politicians to desist from campaigning on its pulpits.

In a statement yesterday NKST General Secretary, Reverend Ephraim Shir, said the warning became necessary following the visit of the Benue’s APC governorship candidate, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, to its just concluded National Conference Choir during which an unfortunate scenario purportedly occurred.

Shir said while the conference went on break, the governorship candidate used the period for the “unfortunate incidence” purportedly reported on social media and regarded by many as political campaign. 

The statement said, “That, NKST Church condemns that act in total and warns that no NKST event, Church service of any kind should be used as a rally for campaign by any political party or candidate. ”
