 Setting the Records Straight on  Citizen Asar Michael Sesugh's  Death The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC,  considered it imperative to clear the air on some recent incidents at its Makurdi Zonal Directorate,  Benue State.   Operatives of the Directorate arrested 26 suspected cyber fraudsters on April 28,  2026.  They were profiled and kept in custody for further investigations after obtaining a Remand Order at a Magistrate Court.  Shortly after their arrest,  specifically on May 4,  2026,  three of the suspects sought permission to use the lavatory at the Directorate's  Holding Facility and were permitted.   They cashed in on the opportunity,  broke the toilet's roof and escaped from detention.  Several efforts were made to re- arrest them to no avail. GOV. UZODIMMA EMPOWERS 25,000 IMO STATE VULNERABLE PERSONS


In a bid to expand and deepen the Shared Prosperity Agenda, the Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has matched words with action with the empowerment of 25,000 poor and vulnerable Imo citizens through a conditional cash transfer. 

Governor Uzodimma in his address at Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri, disclosed that the conditional cash transfer is not for payback but a grant for their upkeep to help stimulate the state's economy against the impacts of Covid 19 and banditry.

According to the Governor, "assisting the poor and vulnerable in our society is also at the core of the shared prosperity agenda of this administration. We are poised to deliver Imo State from hardship and poverty".

The empowerment of the 25,000 Imolites was made under the IMO CARES PROGRAM which is an offshoot of the Federal Government NG-CARES program. 

The conditional cash transfer will be given in 2 tranches, this month December and next month.
