 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. GOVERNOR UMAHI FLAGS OFF ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES AT EBONYI SHOPPING MALL, ABAKALIKI.


Governor David Nweze Umahi has performed the official flag-off of economic activities at Everyday Supermarket at the newly built Shopping Mall complex in Abakaliki.

Governor Umahi performed the flag- off, Thursday.

Speaking at the event, Governor Umahi said the idea behind the construction of the edifice was to stimulate economic activities and provide jobs to citizens at the long run.

Governor Umahi said the Shopping Mall which has provided at least three hundred jobs for a start aims to offer two thousand job opportunities to Ebonyi people at full capacity.

The Governor called on the people to take full advantage of the commencement of economic activities to do their yuletide shopping at the mall.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of the Everyday Supermarket, assured that the they were in the Mall to provide the best of services to the teeming Ebonyi populace. He hinted that fifty people have already been employed by the supermarket and many Ebonyi people will be considered for supplies.

Governor Umahi and his entourage after the official flag off took their time to shop from the rich bouquet of commodities at the Supermarket.
