 UNACCEPTABLE – GOV. ALIA BLASTS MBALOM KILLINGS, ASSURES JUSTICE FOR VICTIMS  Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has condemned the latest attack on Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area, describing it as barbaric and unacceptable, while assuring residents of intensified efforts to protect lives and property. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor reacted to reports of an assault by suspected armed herdsmen on the community, an incident that adds to recurring security concerns in parts of the state. Alia said the attack represents a direct threat to the peace and security of Benue, noting a disturbing pattern of what he described as calculated and selective assaults. Ohanaeze President-General, Prof George Obiozor, reported dead

President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof George Obiozor, has been reported dead, though the development has yet to be confirmed.

News of his purported death surfaced on social media this Tuesday morning, December 27, 2022, making News Express to embark on a frantic effort to confirm his welfare.

While some of the close sources contacted claimed the news to be true, others chose not to comment.

However, News Express was able to confirm that the 80 years old retired diplomat from Awo-Omanma in the Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State has been sick for a while and out of circulation.

One close source said: “You know he has been sick. On Saturday, the Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo called to relay the instructions of the PG on the Simon Ekpa situation.

So, right now, I have no idea of the true position.”

Born on August 15, 1942, Prof. Obiozor CON was formerly the Nigerian Ambassador to the United States. He studied in Nigeria and the US, crowning it with a Ph.D. in International Affairs from Columbia University.

Prof. Obiozor was elected President-General of Ohanaeze, the apex Igbo organisation, in early January 2021.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
