 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. The Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi and the Party's Senatorial Candidate for Anambra Central, Senator Victor Umeh have joined friends and well-wishers of the former President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo in felicitating with him on his 70th Birthday Celebration. 

The very colorful Event which started with Thanksgiving Mass at St. Mulumba Catholic Church, New Heaven, Enugu, presided by the Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga and concelebrated by a team of Bishops and Priests subsequently turned into glintz and glamour, a gathering of the creme de la creme at the Oakland Event Center, Enugu where guests were treated lavishly; dancing and cheering the Celebrant. 

Senator Victor Umeh in a remark congratulated the new septuagenarian, Chief Nnia Nwodo and extolled him for his remarkable impacts in the Leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and towards achieving a better progressive Igboland. He described Chief Nwodo as a true patriotic Citizen who has contributed immensely in promoting the advocacy for justice, peace and unity in Nigeria. The OBI-dient Senator further prayed for many more happy years and good health of mind and body for the Celebrant. 

Among the notable persons who graced the Event were the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, the Chairman of South East Traditional Rulers Council and Obi of Onitsha, HRM Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, the Leader of Pan-Yoruba Socio-Cultural Group —Afenifere, Pa Ayo Odebanjo and the Leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide led by the National Vice President, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene among numerous others.
