 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. ZAMFARA POLICE COMMAND RECORDS ANOTHER BREAKTHROUGH 

Arrests Ten (10) Suspects  for  Banditry Related Cases, Repels Bandits Attack,  Recovers Two (2) AK 47 Rifles, Large Quantity of Dried Leaf Suspected To Be Indian Hemp.


REPELLED BANDITS ATTACK AT ZURMI AND SHINKAFI LGAs AND RECOVERY OF TWO (2) AK 47 RIFLES, TWO MAGAZINES AND 104 ROUND OF LIVE AMMUNITION


On 5th December, 2022 , Police Tactical operatives while on confidence building patrol along Zurmi and Shinkafi LGAs received a distress call about bandits plan to attack some villages of the two LGAs. 

The Police operatives mobilized to the locations and engaged the bandits to serious gun battle that lasted for hours. Luckily enough, the bandits were repelled by the superior fire power of the Police operatives, forcing them to retreat back to the forest with possible gun shot wounds. Two AK 47 Rifles and 104 rounds of live ammunition belonging to the bandits were recovered at the scene. 

ARREST OF TWO SUSPECTED BANDIT COLLABORATORS THAT SPECIALISED IN SUPPLYING HARD DRUGS AND DRIED LEAF SUSPECTED TO BE INDIAN HEMP.

Name of Suspects :

1. Murtala Dahiru 'M' 25 years old of Galadi village in Shinkafi LGA. 

2. Sani Mohammed 'M', 39 years old of Talata Mafara LGA.

Large Quantity of Leaf Suspected to be Indian Hemp 

On 7th December, 2022 at about 1200 hours, Police Tactical operatives while on confidence acted on intelligence information that led to the arrest of the above mentioned suspects.

The suspects were arrested while transporting large quantity of dried leaf suspected to be Indian hemp all the way from Lagos to Shinkafi in Zamfara state. In the course of investigation, the suspects confessed to several supply of hard drugs and other substances to the bandits operating at Shinkafi and Zurmi axis. Discreet investigation is ongoing. 

ARREST OF FOUR (4) SUSPECTED BANDIT COLLABORATORS IN POSSESSION OF LARGE QUANTITY OF DRIED LEAF SUSPECTED TO BE INDIAN HEMP.

1. Lawali Salisu 'M' 35 years old 
2. Bello Mohammed 'M' 34 years old
3. Saying Mohammed 'M' 28 years old
4. Aliyu Yahaya 'M' 27 years old

Large quantity of dried leaf suspected to be Indian Hemp

On 8th December, 2022 at about 1330hours, Police Tactical operatives while on stop and search, acted on credible information that led to the arrest of the above mentioned suspects. 

The Four (4) suspects were arrested in an 18 seater Toyota vehicle conveying large quantity of dried leaf suspected to be Indian hemp from Lagos and to be delivered to Kaura Namoda in Zamfara state. In the course of interrogation, the suspects confessed that the consignment was meant for bandits operating in a forest under Shinkafi LGA of Zamfara state. 

ARREST OF TWO (2) SUSPECTED BANDIT INFORMANTS WHO COLLABORATE WITH BANDITS TO IMPOSE LEVIES ON THE VILLAGERS AND DELIVER TO THE BANDITS, AS WELL AS ONE (1) OTHER SUSPECT WHO DIVULGE INFORMATION ON OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES OF SECURITY AGENCIES AND VIGILANTE

1. Abubakar Idaho 'M' 75 years old of Kwarya Tsugunne village in Maru LGA. 

2. Almustapha Dahiru 'M' 69 years old of Yanbuki village in Zurmi LGA. 

3. Mohammed Sani Jibrin 'M' of Kekun Waje village in Bungudu LGA. 

The 1st and 2nd suspects mentioned above  were arrested by the Police Tactical operatives in connection with partnering with bandits to impose levies on Kwarya Tsugunne and Yanbuki villages in Maru and Zurmi LGAs respectively. The suspects during interrogation confessed to the Police that, on several occasions, they imposed levies on villagers that run into millions and delivered same to bandits while getting their percentage. They further confessed that, recently they imposed and collected levy of one million, two hundred thousand naira from Kwarya Tsugunne village. 

While the 3rd suspect was arrested as being informant to bandits by divulging information about the operational activities of security agencies and vigilante at Kekun Waje village in Bungudu LGA. The suspect while undergoing interrogation confessed to the alleged criminality. 

Discreet investigation is in progress, all the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution on completion of investigation.
