 Nigerian Association for Family Development releases communique on 18 biennial conference held in Awka By Chris Chikelue The Nigerian Association For Family Development (NAFAD) has made public the communique made at the 18th Biennial conference  themed: 'Marriage as a Vocation- Flourishing Despite Modern Challenges'. The communique which was issued on March 30, 2025 at the Bishop AK Obiefuna  Retreat and Pastoral Centre, Okpunor, Awka, Anambra State was signed by NAFAD National President, Mr. Uche Okpala and its National Secretary,  Mrs Tayo Akinyede. It was a gathering that brought together couples, relationship experts, and singles to explore practical ways to strengthen marriages and address contemporary relationship challenges. According to the communique the event emphasized that marriage is a sacred vocation—a call to total self-giving, sacrifice, and shared purpose in building resilient families. ADAMAWA CP TASKED 431 NEWLY PASSED OUT CONSTABLES TO ENSURE COMMUNITY SAFETY AND SHUN CORRUPT PRACTICES


Adamawa State Commissioner of Police CP, SK Akande, has tasked about 431 newly passed out Constables to strive towards ensuring safety of communities as well as shun all corrupt practices.

Addressing cross section of the Constables at the Police Headquaters on the 23th January, 2023, the Police Boss urged them to be committed towards upholding professionalism.

CP Akande, urged the deployed Constables to various Divisional Headquaters across the State to be good ambassadors of their families, Adamawa State and Nigeria Police Force as a whole.

Their deployment is in-line with the Community Policing Policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+),NPM ,NEAPS, CFR.

The CP while wishing the Newly passed out Constables a successful Carrier, he further urged them to be straight forward, God fearing and be nice in their policing approach to foster community safety.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
