Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive. ACTDA Boss, Onuko Cautions Developers Against Building Without Approval




The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Mr. Ossy Onuko has cautioned land developers within the capital territory not to embark on any construction without getting appropriate approvals from the agency.


Mr. Onuko who stated this while speaking to the ABS in his office in Awka noted that ACTDA will not hesitate to remove any building that was built without approval.


He maintained that the agency under his watch will continue to deliver on the mandate envisaged before creating it and made it clear that no amount of pressure from any quarter will make ACTDA to compromise.


Mr. Onuko equally advised those trading along roads within the jurisdiction of the agency to stop forthwith or face the wrath of ACTDA, even as he warned those pasting posters on the flyovers in Awka to desist from such ugly behaviour.


According to the ACTDA Managing Director, his team will continue with all the Projects they embarked upon last year like operation zero potholes, clean and green initiative, removal of illegal structures among others.


The ACTDA Managing Director urged Ndi Anambra to keep supporting the Governor Chukwuma Soludo led administration for a prosperous and liveable homeland.


He further warned all the staff of the agency to always be professional in the discharge of their duties as anyone found wanting under any guise would be penalized accordingly to serve as a deterrent to others.
