 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room. El-Rufai Commends NAF For Improved Security In Kaduna

Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State has commended the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its efforts in restoration of relative peace in the state.  

Speaking yesterday  when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao in his office at Headquarters NAF, Abuja, El-Rufai expressed gratitude of the people of Kaduna State to the CAS for improved security situation in the state.

In a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI) Air Cdre Wap Maigida,  the governor disclosed that in the last three months, there had been a significant improvement in the security situation in the state, as several  terrorists’ commanders have been neutralized by the NAF while the remnants have relocated from the state.

“On behalf of the government and people of Kaduna State, I came to thank the Chief of the Air Staff, Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding, officers and men of the Nigerian Air Force for the excellent work done and still being done in Kaduna State. The security situation in our state and environs has improved drastically. Please keep up the excellent work,” he said.

In his response, Air Marshal Amao thanked the governor for the visit as well as the support and cooperation the NAF has been receiving from the government and people of Kaduna State in tackling the security challenges in the entire North West region.
