 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room. Founder of Nollywood Award Ceremony, AMAA Peace Anyiam Osigwe is Dead

Reports just reaching my desk have it that the founder of the prestigious film awards ceremony, the African Movie Academy Awards (AMMA), Ms Peace Anyiam Osigwe, is dead.

According to reports gathered, the respected filmmaker breathed her last at St Nicholas hospital, Lagos on Monday.

An award-winning movie producer, Mr Obi Emelonye, confirmed the demise of Ms Osigwe.

“Thank you and good night dada Peace,” the producer of Last Flight to Abuja said.

Another Nollywood icon, Mr Mike Nliam, queried, “How can 2023 start like this?

The founder of African Movie Academy Awards (AMMA) and president of the Association of Movie Producers of Nigeria, Peace Anyiam Osigwe, is gone to be with d Lord!

“Nollywood was everything to her! Oh, what a tragic news! 

“Life indeed is so fickle! May her soul rest in d bosom of d Lord.”.
Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, previously Peace Anyiam-Fiberesima MFR (born 30 March) is a Nigerian filmmaker and entertainment executive who has been called "the queen of Nollywood films". She is the founder of globally acclaimed film ceremony, Africa Movie Academy Awards. The Guardian documents that she pioneered the screening of Nollywood films at international film festivals. She directed the first music video of hip-hop sensation, P-Square. In 2012, she was bestowed a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian government for her contribution to the entertainment industry. She is a TED fellow.
