 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity. PRESIDENT BUHARI REJOICES WITH PASTOR PAUL ADEFARASIN AT 60

President Muhammadu Buhari shares in celebrations with the Prelate and Metropolitan Senior Pastor of House on the Rock, Paul Adefarasin, on his 60th birthday, January 25, 2023.

The President joins family members, friends, congregants of House on the Rock and well-wishers in felicitating with the spiritual leader, who has dedicated his life to propagating the gospel of Christ, and serving humanity, especially with The Rock Foundation.
 
President Buhari believes the Bible teacher has expanded in influence and leadership within the country and beyond, with accompanying goodwill, mentoring other preachers and ministers who have sustained the peace and love of Christianity.

As the Convener and Host of The Experience, an annual gospel concert, turns 60, the President notes the role of the church in infrastructure development, particularly in the health and educational sector.

The President prays that the Almighty God will continue to bless Adefarasin with good health, strength and wisdom, and remember his family, especially his co-labourer and wife, Ifeanyi.
