 RE: MISLEADING CLAIMS REGARDING EXTORTION OF MOTORISTS BY LAGOS STATE TASKFORCE – YET-TO-BE-IDENTIFIED SECURITY OPERATIVES: ANOTHER CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY The Lagos State Taskforce wishes to address a misleading narrative circulating on social media, particularly in a viral video shared by protesters and concerned groups who recently demonstrated at the Lagos State House of Assembly. The protest was in response to the alleged extortion of motorists by security operatives, yet to be identified, who are not officials of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit. We categorically state that the Lagos State Taskforce had no involvement in the said incident. Our enforcement teams are led by seasoned, well-trained, and highly disciplined senior officers who are far too professional and educated to jeopardise their ranks, integrity, and years of service for personal gain. THE EXECUTIVE BILL TO LEGALIZE THE IMO STATE COUNCIL OF ELDERS HAS BEEN ASSENTED TO - GOV. UZODIMMA 


The Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has announced that the Executive bill legalising the Imo Council of Elders has been assented to. 

Governor Uzodimma made this known while playing host to the Imo State Council of Elders, who came on a courtesy visit. 

While commending their times and sacrifices, the Governor enjoined them to speak to the conscience of the political class of the opposition to allow peace to reign in Imo State. 

He added that the interest of the Government is to improve the welfare of its citizens, rebuild dilapidated infrastructures and ensure peace and security. 

According to the Governor, "I will not preside over a State that will be destroyed by non-state actors", I pray wise counsel prevails for the betterment of Ndi Imo. 

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Imo State Council of Elders, HRM Eze Dr. Cletus Ilomuanya CON, appreciated the Governor for his goodwill and support for the council with the free hand to run their affairs. He reiterated their promise to continue to work for the expectations of the public.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
