Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. CBN Sticks to Presidential Directive to Reissue only 200 Naira Old Banknotes


The attention of the Central Bank of Nigeria has been drawn to a FAKE PRESS RELEASE

purported to have emanated from the Bank to the effect that President Muhammadu Buhari

has approved the reissuance and release of old N500 and N1000 notes as legal tender in

the county.


For the avoidance of doubt, the Central Bank of Nigeria reiterates that in line with the

directives of Mr. President, only N200 old notes are to be reissued and to circulate

concurrently with the new notes. Members of the public are therefore advised to ignore this

fake news.


The Bank is working with the law entorcement agencies to investigate, apprehend and


prosecute the purveyors of this fake news.
