 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. We have contacted the Police to establish the cause of this unfortunate exit through autopsy- Chrisland Schools speaks on the sudden death of its student during its inter-house sports

Authorities of the Chrisland school have released a statement over the sudden demise of 12-year-old Whitney Adeniran, a student of the school who allegedly slumped and died during the school's inter-house sports at the Agege stadium in Lagos state on February 9.

Whitney's mum released a video on Saturday in which she accused the school authorities of hiding the cause of her daughter's death.

In a statement released today, February 12, the school authorities asked for prayers for the family of the deceased. The school authorities mentioned that after the incident, all regulatory institutions especially the Police were contacted to establish the cause of this unfortunate exit through autopsy. The school says it will in due course, update everyone with a full report of the incident.

The statement reads

‘’The loss of one of our precious children at the  Agege Stadium during our annual Inter House Sports competition is really disheartening and tragic . 
We are absolutely heartbroken, shattered and grieve with the family. Words are not enough to express our sadness and it is only God that can  comfort the family, friends and the entire School community.

As we continue to grieve over this sad loss, we want to use this medium to encourage all members of the Chrisland family and community of parents to  keep the family in prayers, remain strong  and  focused on God.

In spontaneous response to the incidence,  we immediately contacted all regulatory institutions and especially the Police to establish the cause of this unfortunate exit through autopsy.

We shall in due course, update all parents with a full report of the incident.

We wish to thank all of you for the concern, support and prayers during this time of grief and we pray that God will give the family and the school the fortitude to bear this painful and irreparable loss.''

What happened to my child?- Nigerian mum cries out after her 12 year old daughter died while attending school's interhouse sports

In a tearful video posted online, Mrs Blessing Adeniran said her daughter, Desola Whitney Adeniran was attending her school, Chrisland School Opebi' interhouse sports, last Thursday February9. She said she was at the event when she got wind that her daughter had fainted. She stated that nobody called or.mentioned to her what had happened to her. She said she was searching for her daughter who was supposed to take part in the match past but did not when she got information from one of the students that Whitney fainted. Mrs Adeniran said the staff mentioned to her that Whitney had been rushed to the hospital. On getting to the hospital where her daughter was rushed to, she met her corpse there. She said up till now, the school.has not opened up to her on what happened to her. The distraught mum said the school claims her 12 year old suffered a cardiac arrest and slumped.

Mrs Adediran said her baby girl was not sick and never had any pre-existing heart condition and wonders why she would suffer a cardiac arrest.

She is demanding the school comes clean to her with regards to what really happened to her child so she can bury her child in peace.
