IHIALA KILLINGS: LATE INSPECTOR JUDE OBUH BURIED AMIDST TEARS

By Nicholas Ebegboni

One of the three Police Inspectors that were killed by gunmen at Ihiala, on their way to Abia State for a People’s Democratic Party rally, Inspector Jude Obuh has been buried.

The late Inspector Jude Obuh was buried in his hometown, Oki community, Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, while the burial mass was held for him at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Agbor.

Recall that on February 10, 2023, residents of Ika were struck by the news of the brutal murder of the 3 policemen, Inspectors Lucky Aleh, Celestine Nwadiokwu, and Jude Obuh who before their death were attached to Explosives Ordinances Disposal Unit at the Government House, Asaba.

Homilist, during the burial mass, Rev. Fr Joseph Ebegbunaa bosom friend of the deceased, consoled the family of late inspector Jude Obuh as he pointed out that man cannot question the Almighty God for he knows the best.

Continuing, Rev. Fr Ebegbuna urged the family to take solace in the fact that their late husband, father, and brother, was a good man saying that he can testify to it being his good friend asuring that he is resting in the bosom of the Lord.

Speaking further, the homilist affirmed that there is time for everything, a time to be born, and a time to die, as he added that only God can decide the fate of man. He also admonished the colleague of late Inspector Obuh and the Nigerian Police to be undeterred and unbroken, advising that they should do not seek for vengeance as this will bring about more bloodshed and suffering on the innocent

The wife of the deceased, Mrs. Joy Obuh once again like she did in our last publication, made a passionate appeal to Delta State government, to put a roof over their head, as she also stated that, she needs a job, so that she can take good care of the young children left behind for her alone because of the death of her late husband, as according to her the burden would be too much for her.

Continuing, Mrs. Obuh revealed that although she is an NCE holder, she is unemployed at the moment, a situation she maintain, would make catering for the children very difficult for her.

Speaking further, she decried the security problem in the country, saying it's so sad she was made a widow at a tender age.

Some persons who spoke to our correspondent immediately after the burial described late Inspector Jude Obuh as a jolly good fellow who they would miss for a long time to come.

They noted that even as a police officer, he was very humble and caring, as they proffered that his death was a big loss, not only to the immediate family but to Agbor kingdom and the police force as he is one of the finest officers the force had.

There was a parade and gun salute performed by men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to pay the late Inspector their last respect.
