 Russia Backs African Demands for Colonial Reparations  Russia has thrown its support behind African and Caribbean nations seeking compensation from former colonial powers.  Speaking at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Western countries should be held accountable for centuries of colonial exploitation and slavery.  “We are ready to actively support their endeavors to demand reparations and compensation from their former colonial powers.”  Medvedev argued that former colonial states have both the financial capacity and moral responsibility to compensate for the "colossal damage" caused by colonialism, RT reported He also called for colonialism to be officially recognized as a crime against humanity under international law. The remarks come as global momentum grows for reparations, following a UN resolution recognizing the transatlantic slave trade as “the gravest crime against humanity.”

Troops neutralize five bandits across Birnin Gwari, Igabi and Giwa LGAs. 

Troops of Operation Forest Sanity neutralized five bandits during clearance operations spanning Birnin Gwari, Igabi and Giwa LGAs.

According to feedback to the Kaduna State Government, the troops - supported by a NAF helicopter - began the fighting patrols along Mando-Sabon Birni-Maidaro-Dogon Dawa road, spanning Igabi and Birnin Gwari LGAs. 

Several bandits camps were destroyed along this route. 

The offensive was then projected to Galadimawa and Saulawa villages, Giwa LGA, where three bandits were neutralized and eight motorcycles recovered.  

The troops continued the operation along Dogon Dawa-Kuyello-Farin Ruwa-Birnin Gwari Road. Two bandits were encountered and neutralized at Gayam village. 

The troops recovered two AK47 rifles, five prepared IEDs, two motorcycles and two mobile phones. 

Governor Nasir El-Rufai warmly commended the troops for their courage, and encouraged them to keep up the proactive spirit.
