 Ohanaeze Council Condemns EFCC’s Declaration Of Lagos Governor's Ally, Aisha Achimugu Wanted The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has criticised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over what it described as the "unjust persecution" of socialite and businesswoman Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu. The group, in a statement issued on Sunday by its National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, condemned the manner in which the EFCC raided Achimugu’s Abuja residence and declared her wanted, despite her being out of the country at the time. A viral video had earlier surfaced online, purportedly showing EFCC officials at the Achimugu family home, where her 80-year-old mother was allegedly forced to sit on the floor and she was denied water. ELECTION IN RIVERS A COMPLETE FAILURE, SAYS AMAECHI

Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation, has described the governorship and House of Assembly election in Rivers State as a complete failure based on the intimidation of voters by thugs.

The former governor, who spoke with journalists after casting his vote in polling unit 14, ward 8, Ubima community, Ikwerre LGA, faulted the inability of Usman Baba, the inspector-general of police (IGP), to address the arrest and intimidation of members of opposition parties in the state.

He said that Governor Nyesom Wike lacks the power to declare anybody wanted, even as he expressed concern over low voter turnout in the state, adding that it is a result of voter intimidation.

Amaechi said: “Look at what is happening in Rivers State —a complete failure of governance. Police are helping PDP arrest APC and SDP members,” he said.

“Gongs are beating in communities asking people who will not vote for PDP not to come out or they will beat them. Unlike before, thugs are beating people everywhere.

“People are being arrested and nobody has spoken. The governor has no right to declare anybody wanted. IGP is doing nothing. Nobody is doing anything. Complete failure.

“Now, there is voter apathy. I don’t know if it cuts across the country, but there is voter apathy in Rivers state. Nobody wants to come out because people are scared.”

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
