  President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence. The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja. President Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the carnival reaffirms the essence of who Nigerians are—”a people of culture, a people of art, a people of colour, and a people of shared values”. On behalf of the entire DIYA family home and abroad; We announce the passing on to Glory of our dear Husband,Father, Grandfather,brother, *Lt- General Donaldson Oladipo Diya (Rtd)* GCON, LLB, BL, PSC, FSS, mni. 

Our dear Daddy passed onto glory in the early hours of 26th March 2023.

Donaldson Oladipo Diya (Listen) (3 April 1944 – 26 March 2023)was a Nigerian general who served as Chief of the General Staff, (de facto Vice President of Nigeria) under military head of state General Sani Abacha from 1994 until his arrest for treason in 1997. He previously served as Chief of Defence Staff and was Military Governor of Ogun State from January 1984 to August 1985.
