 Nigerian Association for Family Development releases communique on 18 biennial conference held in Awka By Chris Chikelue The Nigerian Association For Family Development (NAFAD) has made public the communique made at the 18th Biennial conference  themed: 'Marriage as a Vocation- Flourishing Despite Modern Challenges'. The communique which was issued on March 30, 2025 at the Bishop AK Obiefuna  Retreat and Pastoral Centre, Okpunor, Awka, Anambra State was signed by NAFAD National President, Mr. Uche Okpala and its National Secretary,  Mrs Tayo Akinyede. It was a gathering that brought together couples, relationship experts, and singles to explore practical ways to strengthen marriages and address contemporary relationship challenges. According to the communique the event emphasized that marriage is a sacred vocation—a call to total self-giving, sacrifice, and shared purpose in building resilient families. RESUMPTION OF COLLATION OF GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION


RESULTS IN ABIA AND ENUGU STATES


It will be recalled that the Commission met on Monday 20th March 2023 and

reviewed the conduct of the Governorship and State Assembly elections held

nationwide on Saturday 18th March 2023.


Arising from the meeting, the Commission took the decision to suspend further

collation of the Governorship election results in some pats of Abia and Enugu

States in order to carny out a review ot the collation processes in both States,


The Commission has concluded the review. Consequently, the collation of

results tor the Govenorship clection in both Abia and Enugu States will

continue today 22nd March 2023.


The Commission appreciates the patience and understanding of the people of


both stales as we conclude the colation processes.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
