 Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, OFR, has approved 100 hectares of land within the Abia Airport Project Site for the Nigerian Air Force to build its training base in Abia State. The Nigeria Air Force had requested an expansion of the 50 hectares of land already earmarked for its training base at the Abia Airport Project Site.  Governor Otti gave the approval on Tuesday, March 10th, in his office while receiving a delegation of the Nigeria Air Force (NAF), Ground Training Command led by the Commander, Air Vice Marshal Adebayo Gabriel Kehinde, who called on him. "The partnership is such that Abia State Government is handling the runway, and the Federal Government is handling the Airport Terminal.  "We expect the runway to be ready very soon. Several persons rendered homeless as rainstorm blows off 105 buildings in Ekiti

Several persons have been rendered homeless after a heavy downpour destroyed more than 105 buildings in Oke-Ako, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Friday, March 3. The downpour which started at about 3pm also destroyed some electricity facilities across the town, thereby subjecting the residents to a total blackout.

While on a visit to the affected area on Saturday, March 4, the deputy governor of the state, Monisade Afuye, described the incident as highly devastating. A statement by the Special Assistant Media to the Deputy Governor, Victor Ogunje, on Saturday, quoted the Governor as expressing delight that no life was lost during the stormy rainfall.
