  NBC bans Eedris Abdulkareem’s protest song ‘Tell Your Papa’ from radio, TV The National Broadcasting Commission has barred Nigerian radio and television stations from airing the trending song “Tell Your Papa” by veteran rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, citing its “objectionable nature.” In a memo dated April 9, 2025 and issued by the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, the commission declared the track Not To Be Broadcast (NTBB) under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. This section prohibits content deemed inappropriate, offensive, or in breach of public decency from being aired on Nigerian broadcast platforms. According to the NBC, while the song has gained momentum across social media platforms, its lyrical content fails to meet the standards of responsible broadcasting. UniPort Senate Approves Outstanding Degree Results

The Senate of the University of Port Harcourt has approved outstanding Degree Results for the 2018-2019, 2019-2020, and 2020-2021 Academic Sessions. Also approved were Outstanding Degree Results from the 2018 to 2021 Academic Sessions.

A breakdown of the approved Results showed a total of sixty-four-degree Results for Full Time, Part Time and Sandwich from the various Faculties of the University.

The approved outstanding results are from the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, Faculty of Science, School of Science Laboratory Faculty of Education, Engineering, Management Sciences, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Law, and the College of Health Sciences.

This approval followed the decisions of the Senate at its 471st Meeting held on Wednesday, 29th March 2023.

Addressing Senate, the Chairman and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill disclosed that the welfare of students must be given top priority in the affairs of his administration. The Chairman enjoined members of the Senate to key into the vision of the present administration.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
