 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. 5 Drown In Kano Boat Mishap 

Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of five people, in a boat mishap at Kanwa Dam in Madobi Local Government Area of the state.

The  Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, explained that, the boat conveying  11 people capsized leading to the death of five while  6 people  were rescued alive.

He highlighted that, the agency received a distress call from one Umar Faruk-Dalada, at about 05:40 pm

"There are 11 persons on the boat, but six were rescued alive, while five were rescued in an unconscious state"

Saminu maintained that, the deceased who are indegenea of Fagge local government area include  Abdulrazak Navara, Dalha Muktar Atamma, Mustapha Ibrahim, Umar Isah and Umar Idris. 

The public relations officer pointed out that, investigations into the boat mishap had commenced, and charged the public to maintain safety at all times.
